Ready to go soon? Antarctica's best deal, the remote Ross Sea and Churchill's northern lights.

Why book short-notice polar travel with me
I've explored the Arctic myself
I’ve sailed Svalbard’s sea ice and cruised Alaska’s Inside Passage, so I know what expedition life is really like: the ships, the Zodiacs, the gear, the long days of light. I bring that first-hand insight to every trip I plan, including Antarctica.
Same price as booking direct, and my planning is free
You pay the expedition line’s published fare. My time, comparisons and follow-through cost you nothing extra.
One small ask: free planning works because it’s built on trust. If you’re planning to book with me, I’m all in! Please don’t use my time just to price-shop, so I can keep planning free for everyone.
I match you to the right ship and cabin
Small ship or mid-size, balcony or porthole, kayaking or quiet decks: I’ll compare what’s actually available on your dates and tell you plainly which fits you.
I handle the details
Flights, pre- and post-voyage hotels, transfers, insurance questions and packing advice, all coordinated so a short-notice trip still feels unhurried.

Forty percent off Antarctica is the deal I’d point you to first if the bucket list is bigger than the budget. Ocean Victory carries just 184 guests and most cabins have their own balcony, so you can step out to the ice whenever the light turns gold.

Ross Sea · 26 days · Aurora Expeditions
The Other Side of Antarctica: the Ross Sea
Ship: Greg Mortimer: 130 guests on expedition, X-BOW
Dates: December 14, 2026 – January 8, 2027 (26 days)
Route: Hobart, Tasmania → Macquarie Island → the Ross Sea and the Ross Ice Shelf → New Zealand’s subantarctic islands → Dunedin, New Zealand (landings depend on weather and ice)
Offer: save up to 10% with Aurora’s Stop Saying Someday sale, book and deposit by December 22, 2026
From $35,726 per person* (twin share, Balcony Stateroom Category C)
This is the Antarctica almost nobody sees: the Ross Sea, where you cruise beneath the towering ice cliffs of the Ross Ice Shelf and may sail into McMurdo Sound, the historic gateway to the South Pole. Greg Mortimer carries just 130 guests, so on a voyage this remote you’re one of a tiny group who will ever say “I’ve been there.”
Best for: Polar travelers who’ve dreamed of the Ross Sea, Scott and Shackleton’s side of the continent.

Churchill, Canada · 7 days · Natural Habitat Adventures
Northern Lights From a Glass-Topped Pod
Group: 15 travelers max, private charter flights Winnipeg ⇄ Churchill
Dates: 2027 departures from January 22 through March 21 (7 days, Winnipeg round trip)
Nights: aurora watching from Nat Hab’s six heated private viewing spots, which may include a boreal-forest cabin reached by snowcoach and the glass-topped Aurora Pod®
From $8,795 per person* plus $1,689 for the Winnipeg–Churchill charter flights
If the northern lights are on your list, Churchill sits right under the aurora oval, and I love that you watch from heated private spots, even a glass-domed pod, instead of a freezing parking lot. Nat Hab caps it at 15 travelers, so you get the best seat under the sky every single night.
Best for: Aurora chasers who want warmth, a small group and a true Arctic setting, without an ocean crossing.

Short-notice polar travel, answered
How last-minute can I book Antarctica?
Often later than people expect. Depending on the season and the ship, space can still be available a few weeks to a couple of months before departure, and expedition lines sometimes release cabins close in. The practical limit is usually flights to Ushuaia or Punta Arenas and any visa or insurance paperwork, so the sooner we talk, the more options you’ll have.
Do I pay more booking through an advisor?
No. You typically pay the same fare as booking direct with the expedition line, and my planning is free. What you add is an advisor with first-hand expedition experience who compares ships and cabins for you, and handles the details before and after you book.
What should I know about short-notice polar trips?
Three things. Flights: book them only after the voyage is confirmed, and plan to arrive a day or two early. Travel insurance: expedition voyages generally require it, and short-notice bookings benefit from medical and evacuation coverage, so we’ll sort it right away. Gear: parkas are often provided on board, but boots, layers and a few essentials need a quick shopping list, which I’ll send you.
